I want to remind you right now that you are powerful beyond measure!
Since children, we have been conditioned not to be TOO powerful...
You know, do what you’re told, don’t act out in school, fall in line, don’t be too loud, get your work done on time, etc, etc.
Basically, just be a sheep with your head down and you’ll “survive” life.
Well I don’t want to you to just survive life like a sheep until the wolf shows up on your doorstep.
I want you to step into your power, make a positive difference in someone else’s life and live the fullfilling life that you are destined to live!
One of my favourite scenes from an unlikely movie, Coach Carter, is when one of his athletes reads this poem to the team to remind them all that it’s ok to be powerful and take a stand for what you believe in:
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God (or the universe, or buddha, or whatever you believe in).
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
— Marianne Williamson
I bet you got some goose bumps reading that and if you didn’t wake up you’re alive!
Funny thing is, years later one of my favourite books of all time became The Law of Divine Compensation, also written by Marianne Williamson which was given to me by my girlfriend to read.
It’s amazing how the universe speaks to all of us in different ways and if we stop for a minute and pay attention, we just might become aware of the daily miracle of life.
